Requirements for Lake Districts
Lake Districts and Associations are actively involved in managing Wisconsin's lakes, and can play a vital role in defining the future of their lake. Lake groups may be monitoring their lakes for changes in water quality, aquatic plant communities, fisheries, and wildlife. Many lake groups are promoting lake friendly living and are protecting lakes by developing and implementing lake management plans. Others are working with local governments to pass boating and other ordinances.
The Wisconsin Association of Lakes provides tools and guidance to help lake groups run more effectively, use lake management grants and projects to solve lake problems, understand current policy issues, and share the experiences and success stories of other lake groups working to resolve similar lake issues.
