The Wisconsin Association of Lakes (WAL), a non-profit organization focused on working for clean, safe, healthy lakes for everyone, seeks an Executive Director. The position is located in Madison, WI, a vibrant Midwest university community surrounded by beautiful, treasured lakes. The Executive Director will lead and take an active role in the development efforts to secure the financial resources necessary to meet the mission and long-range goals of the organization. This position will also provide administrative and managerial focus to WAL. WAL’s long range goals include: serving as the statewide advocate for lakes, increasing citizen involvement as local advocates for lakes, developing a lake ethic in Wisconsin communities, and supporting science-based lake management decisions.

The Executive Director supervises three experienced staff and works in concert with the WAL Board of Directors, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and UW-Extension Lakes Program (who together comprise the Wisconsin Lakes Partnership) in protecting over 15,000 lakes across Wisconsin. We’re looking for candidates with demonstrated experience in obtaining funds and in working with a governing Board of Directors of a non-profit organization, and significant experience with managing the financial affairs of a non-profit organization.
