The 2005 West Central Wisconsin Lakes Workshop was
held on August 12, at the Rice Lake Technical College. Over 100 lake enthusiasts
gathered to learn how local lake leaders can make a difference to their
lakes. John "Duke" Welter, a Natural Resources Board member from
Eau Claire, delivered a keynote address about the importance of partnerships
for watershed protection. In addition to networking
with other lake enthusiasts and exhibitors, attendees then chose from
a variety of presentations on current lake and water quality issues including;
The Clean
Boats, Clean Waters watercraft inspection course was offered as an
optional session at this workshop.

of WAL's quarterly newsletter, The
Lake Connection, published the following three articles based
on speeches and presentations at the workshop:
