2005 Southeastern Wisconsin Lakes Workshop

“Lake Protection: It Starts and Ends at Home”

Over 200 people attended the Southeastern Wisconsin Lakes workshop February 19th at the Waukesha County Technical College in Pewaukee. This workshop focused on ways citizens can contribute to a healthy lake through personal actions and involvement in public land use decision making.

In addition to networking with other lake enthusiasts, attendees then chose from a variety of presentations on topics such as:

  • how land use and land management within the watershed affects lakes
  • steps lake and watershed groups can take to influence land use decision making and protect water resources
  • steps individual citizens can take to manage their property in a lake-friendly way
  • comprehensive land use planning
  • groundwater; basics, management, laws and policy
  • controlling polluted runoff
  • shoreland restorations and rain gardens

The full agenda of presentations and presenters is available online.
