About the Wisconsin Association of Lakes The Wisconsin Association of Lakes is the only statewide nonprofit organization working exclusively to protect and enhance the quality of Wisconsin's 15,000 lakes. How we began The Wisconsin Association of Lakes formed in 1992 from the merger of the Wisconsin Association of Lake Districts and the Wisconsin Federation of Lakes. This decision to form a unified statewide citizen lake organization has proven invaluable in:
Collectively, we are citizens working and learning together, becoming leaders, and making positive contributions to the quality of our state's freshwater treasures. See what we've accomplished The Wisconsin Association of Lakes today The Wisconsin Association of Lakes members include Lake Districts, Lake Associations, individual citizens, and businesses who enjoy Wisconsin's lakes and are interested in preserving the opportunities that keep attracting us to the water. We carry out our mission—clean, safe, healthy lakes for everyone—by providing lake education opportunities and serving as an advocate for sound lake related policy. Working together with citizens, the Department of Natural Resources, the UW-Extension, the Wisconsin Lakes Partnership, local groups, local governments, the state legislature, conservation organizations, and other partners, we are committed to ensuring that Wisconsin's legacy of lakes is enjoyed for generations to come.
